Bio

Gavin D. Craig is Director of Music at St. Margaret’s Episcopal Church in Waxhaw, a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina. From 2013-2019, he served at St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in Houston as Choirmaster and Organist, where he founded the noted Choir Fellows program, a stipendiary ensemble of auditioned high school students. In 2014, he completed his Master of Music degree in Organ Performance at the University of Houston, studying under Robert Bates, Matthew Dirst, and Sigurd Øgaard. As a recitalist, he is passionate about improvisation, innovative concert programming, and the performance of 21st century music. He has premiered and promoted new works by American, Dutch, and German composers. Gavin is the owner and curator of a British reed organ built in 1931 by celebrated John Holt Pioneer Works, one of only two such organs in the United States. He is new to the Charlotte area; his hobbies include bicycling, cooking, and brewing beer.
